Mill Valley Residence

For this single-family residence across the San Francisco Bay in Marin, Edmonds + Lee transformed the existing interior spaces into an open and airy set of seamlessly integrated living spaces. Organized along a central spine that overlooks a stunning swath of nature, the house almost disappears into the woods thanks to ethereal columns and the constant introduction of sunlight, both dappled by the leaves and brightly shining beams. A clean white kitchen offers a central focal point, while white furniture in the dining nook continues the motif into a sitting room detailed with a Le Corbusier lounge chair from which to sit and watch the sun move. Modern furniture reappears in the living room, which features a massive sliding glass door out onto the wooden deck. The millwork is spare and minimalist, the details perfectly articulated.
